I Don't Want To Be A Tease

A lot of my traffic (okay, pretty much 100% of it) seems to come from people searching for either Podzuma information, or information about re-boxing a Sonic Impact T-Amp. As I posted a few months ago, Dayton seems to have taken over producing a clone of the original T-Amp, and today, I discovered this. I may be late to the party, but $20 for what appears to be ready-to-use T-Amp guts is awesome news! I ordered 4, and over the next two months, I plan to use them to finish out the Podzuma rebuild, and to tackle the T-Amp Rebox (albiet without destroying my last stock T-Amp). I also ordered some Chumby Guts from MakerShed, and some used iPods from eBay, so I have some ideas for integrating them with the T-Amp guts to make some custom console-style iPods/Chumbys. As always, if I get off my ass, photos and whatnot will appear here.

Couldn't Have Written It Better

(This is a Luann post)

Wow. All the will-she, won't-she, does-she, doesn't-she has pretty much been resolved. Brad loves Toni. Toni loves Brad. Cue the walk into the sunset.

On a technical note, I love the pacing Evans has used the past two weeks to the big reveal. The kiss, the single-panel happy couple...and Brad's reactions have been spot-on. I cringed, just slightly, when he brought up Dirk, but Toni breezed right over it, and "Ok, two things..." was about the Braddiest comment there could have been.

I am a bit torn. Unfortunately, happy couples aren't interesting. Conflict drives storytelling. That's why there's always a dragon threatening the fair maid; always a malevolent, asthmatic cyborg who happens to be your father trying to take over the universe; always a huge shark terrorizing a sleepy coastal town. Evans gets away with it with the DeGroot adults, and the occasional "happy longtime married couple" panels always give me a smile, but honestly, now that Brad and Toni are together, the only way to keep them interesting is going to be to introduce some conflict. I hope it turns out to be of the "you and me against the world, baby" variety, rather than the relationship self-destructing over Brad's insecurities.

For now, I'm just happy that Brad's gotten what he's wanted, and waited for...and Toni too, even if she didn't know she wanted it.

Reboxing the T-Amp: It's Baaaaaack!

Wow...looks like Dayton Audio picked up where Sonic Impact left off...this is pretty much physically identical to the 5066, with identical sonic specs. I rather like the all-black finish (I've never cared too much for silver), but if you're re-boxing, it could be puce, for all you care. This one looks like it comes with a power supply, for $39.18, which is $30 less than Sonic Impact's second-generation 5065.

And there was much rejoicing.
